Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.
Hi! I’m Isabella, I’m a 25 year old mama of 5 kids, my oldest (and only girl!) being 6! I was born and raised in California and we moved to south Florida 4 years ago. We spend our days taking care of our animals (2 dogs, 12 chickens, 4 guinea pigs, a tortoise & bunny!), homeschooling, and spending all our free time at the beach! All my kids are obsessed with the water and are either swimming or surfing all year long.
Where do you call home?
We live in Vero beach, Florida. A small beach town on the east coast of Florida.
What does a typical day look like for you and your family?
We aren’t super “routine” people, but our days do have some rhythm to them. After breakfast, we check up on all the animals and the kids will play outside for an hour or so. Then I’ll do a little homeschool lesson with my daughter while the boys continue playing. After we’re done, I pack up lunch and snacks for the beach and we head there until dinner time! After the beach we head home and the kids normally play in our yard again while I make dinner.
Please tell us about your favourite family rituals.
We can’t survive without being outside most of the day. We’re all outside within 30 minutes of waking up and are mainly inside only for breakfast and dinner. It makes our days so much more peaceful & we connect so much better.
What does your family like cooking/eating together?
We definitely eat super nourishing/basic meals! The kids love collecting eggs from our chickens and picking their eggs for breakfast. We do simple breakfasts like fresh eggs cooked in butter, chicken sausage and fresh sourdough basically every morning. Lunch is normally on the go so almond butter & jelly sandwiches, cheese & meat sticks, dried mango & nuts. Dinner is a lot of beans and rice bowls, burritos, roasted potatoes and fish!
What is your favourite outdoor activity?
I love nothing more than swimming in the ocean with my babies.
What creative activities do you like to do with your children?
We love to paint with watercolors, color chalk on the patio, draw pictures of different plants/flowers/shells we see. My daughter got a Polaroid camera for Christmas and it’s been really cute seeing her creativity in taking photos.
What is the best motherhood advice you have ever been given?
I was told this when my oldest was a baby and I’ve never forgotten it- “if it won’t matter in 5 years, it doesn’t matter”. As a mother it feels like there’s constantly something to worry about or do, but if it wouldn’t affect you in 5 years, it really doesn’t matter. So focus on just the things that matter.
What surprised you the most about being a parent?
I didn’t comprehend how special each different child is. When I had my first I thought “how could I ever love another this much” but your heart just continues to double in size with each baby you have. It’s so special and fleeting.
What is your special everyday luxury that you just can’t live without?
My husband wakes up with the older 4 kids while my 9 month old and I sleep. I honestly couldn’t live without that extra hour of sleep!
What do you like about Vild?
I love that Vild pieces are so versatile, I can dress them up and down in the same basics! I love layering the cute collared shirts with a beautiful knit! I also am obsessed with most pieces being gender neutral, my boys can wear all the hand me downs!
I feel like every piece from Vild is so timeless & the quality is so so amazing. A lot of times I notice fabrics holding stains and I don’t really have that problem with Vild! We’ve used the same pieces for years and years and they hold up so nicely.
