This week, we’re visiting Courtney Seabrooks - a creative mother navigating life with a beautifully busy household. Courtney has created a family rhythm rooted in presence, patience, and deep connection.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.
Hi, I’m Courtney Seabrooks – an artist and a mother. I specialize in fine art painting and filmmaking, and my family is at the heart of everything I do.
Where do you call home?
We’re currently based in San Diego, California.
What does a typical day look like for you and your family?
Our days are always full of adventure. Since we homeschool, we have the freedom to make our own schedule. We love to explore museums, parks, beaches, libraries, and markets, and we spend a lot of time creating art.

Please tell us about your favourite family rituals.
One of my favorite rituals is our morning stretch and intention-setting routine. It’s a beautiful way to connect with the kids and start the day with purpose. I also cherish our bedtime routine, where we either read a story or share one of our own. It’s a time for bonding and winding down.
What does your family like to cook and eat together?
We love making nourishing organic meals, especially Mexican and Italian dishes. Cooking at home from scratch is our go-to. It’s not only about the food, but the experience of being together in the kitchen. My daughter absolutely loves to cook and we write down all of our recipes in a big white notebook together.
What is your favourite outdoor activity?
I love painting outdoors. Whether I’m capturing the movement of water or sketching a landscape, there's something so inspiring about drawing from nature’s beauty.

What creative activities do you like to do with your children?
We’re big on crafts, especially when the seasons change. It’s always fun to decorate our home with their handmade creations, it really brings a personal touch to our space. The children often listen to music and audiobooks while I do the grown-up parts of the craft, so there’s always creativity in the air.
What is the best motherhood advice you have ever been given and why?
“Trust your instincts.” It’s simple, but it’s always stuck with me. Motherhood is a constant learning curve, and sometimes, you just have to listen to your inner voice and believe in your ability to make the right choices for your family.
What surprised you the most about being a parent?
The constant depth of love and connection that evolves. It’s like your heart grows with each passing moment, and it’s more than you ever could have imagined.

What is your special everyday luxury that you just can’t live without?
A quiet moment in the morning with my face in the rising sun and bare feet grounded to the earth. It’s my time to center myself before the day starts, and it’s a little moment of peace that helps me feel ready for anything.
What do you like about Vild?
I love pairing Vild pieces with natural fabrics and earthy tones. Their clothes have such a timeless quality, so I like to let the garments speak for themselves.
Vild stands out because of its unique blend of fabrics and colors. The quality is exceptional, and I love how each piece feels designed to grow with the child, it feels like something that’s meaningful and long-lasting, even something that could be passed down.
Thank you so much, Courtney!
Courtney's children are wearing the Striped Tencel Shirt, Organic Cotton Knit Shorts, Cord Jacket, Zip Cardigan and Joggers.
