This week, we're thrilled to introduce Lisako, whose life is as artful and thoughtful as the jewelry she creates. Based in Tokyo - soon to be Barcelona - she invites us into her world of slow mornings, watercolor afternoons and her endless respect for parents.
Hi Lisako! Please tell us a little bit about you and your family?
I live in Tokyo with my husband and our 3-year-old son. I’m a jewelry designer and run my own brand called moil. Since becoming a mother, I’ve slowed down a little to spend more time with my family while continuing my creative work.
Where do you call home?
Tokyo has been our base, but we’re moving to Barcelona as a family this summer. I’m looking forward to discovering a new place that we can call home.
What does a typical day look like for you and your family?
On weekend mornings, we make waffles and enjoy a slow breakfast together. Then we usually go for a walk or visit a park. In the afternoons, my son and I often cook dinner or bake cakes together.
Do you have a favourite family ritual?
We hug and kiss each other on the cheek every day. I believe that this kind of physical affection helps nurture kindness and love toward others.
What dishes do you enjoy making or eating together as a family?
My son loves making pizza. We cut up lots of different toppings and decorate the dough like a canvas, piling it high with delicious ingredients before baking it together.
What is your favourite outdoor activity?
We love snorkeling - especially in Okinawa, where the water is incredibly clear. It’s one of our favorite ways to enjoy nature together.
Are there any creative activities you enjoy doing with your son?
We love drawing freely with crayons and watercolors. Sometimes we collect flower petals to make “petal water” and explore colors together.
What is the most memorable piece of parenting advice you’ve received?
“To watch over.” It’s easy to want to do everything for your child, but I try to step back and allow my son to do things on his own. Trusting and waiting patiently helps him grow—just as my own mother did for me.
What has surprised you most about becoming a parent?
How fast children grow, and how incredibly deep the love is. Every day is filled with small discoveries that change the way I see the world. At the same time, I’ve come to appreciate how tough parenting can be - I now have endless respect for all parents everywhere.
What’s a small, everyday luxury you just can’t live without?
A cup of coffee made with carefully selected beans in the morning, and a glass of organic wine with dinner—these are my little daily luxuries.
How do you like to style Vild – House of Little pieces?
