#VildFamily: Hosannah Everling Jønsson

We’re so excited to feature Hosannah Everling Jønsson on the blog,  a Jamaican-born, Denmark-based mother of four whose life is a beautiful blend of creativity, resilience, and deep-rooted love for family. With children ranging from toddler to young adult, Hosannah shares a layered and honest perspective on motherhood - how it stretches the heart in different directions, and how each child invites a different version of her to show up.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.

My name is Hosannah. I’ll be 39 this year and I’m a wife and a mother to 4 children ages 22,18,14 and 2. I’ve been  a stay at home mom now for the past 7 years. Before that I worked as a sales assistant in a clothing store.

I love everything thrifted and I started selling vintage items online about a year ago. I love being crafty, and spending time with my family is something I treasure and I’m so grateful that I get to be with them as much as I do.

Where do you call home?

Well I am originally from Jamaica. I moved to Denmark in my early teens and I’ve now lived here for most of my life. But to be honest home is a feeling, and I’ve felt at home in many places and there are times when I feel like I can’t call Denmark nor Jamaica home. It gets complicated at times. Being an immigrant comes with so much unspoken grief, constant adaptation, and the quiet ache of feeling unrooted - never fully belonging here or there.

What does a typical day look like for you and your family?

Oh that’s a hard one, because I’m so fortunate to be at home with my youngest, there are never 2 days that are totally the same. Some days we sleep in and other days we are up early. But I try to dedicate the first part of the day with our youngest while the oldest are off to school. We are often outside if the weather allows. After her nap or while she is napping I try to get things done around the house or work on my small business. When the older kids are back home I often have my 18 year old look after my youngest if she doesn't have plans, so I can either cook or catch up on things I haven’t been able to get done. She loves her sister so she gladly does it.

Please tell us about your favourite family rituals.

Oh man, this is a hard one, because I think you have to be a structured person/family to have rituals and we are not a very structured family - we are more of a go with the flow. But if I must say something we always or most often do as a family is eat dinner together. I love that! It’s a great way to catch up on everyone and hear what’s going on in their lives.

What does your family like cooking/eating together?

Haha! This question goes well with my answer from previous question. In the summer we love to barbecue outside in our garden. My eldest son is studying to become a chef, so he cooks 3 times a week and anything he makes we really enjoy!

What is your favourite outdoor activity?

I love being outside in the garden whether it’s growing things or playing with my youngest daughter. Going for walks is a favorite and I love love love playing badminton.

What creative activities do you like to do with your children?

I don’t do many creative activities with the older children, but with my youngest daughter I love painting with her and see how invested she gets while mixing the colors and making prints of her hands on the paper.

What is the best motherhood advice you have every been given and why?

Oh wow I can’t really come to think of any advice that I have been given that has been great haha. I’ve always done things to the best of my abilities.

What surprised you the most about being a parent?

I would say that it is how different your kids are. I feel like I have to be 4 different people for all my four kids. They all have different needs, so to meet their needs I have to show up differently for all of them.

What is your special everyday luxury that you just can’t live without?

The word luxury for me has changed over the years. If I can get time for myself to dive into something creative without being bothered, that is luxury.

What do you like about Vild - House of Little?

They are so easy to style and I love how colorful they are, because normally I have a tendency to avoid colors, but My youngest looks so amazing in all her Vild pieces.

I love that the pieces are organic cotton. I love the bold colors and how beautiful and diverse the brand/marketing is. I love the environmental aspects. I love that it’s a slow fashion brand and that these pieces are made to last and that they aren’t trendy but timeless pieces.

Thanks you so much, Hosannah!

Hosanna's daughter is wearing our Denim Bloomers, SS Peter Pan Collar Shirt, Jumbo Cord Dress, Jumbo Cord Jacket, Jumbo Cord Trousers, LS Organic Woven Collar Shirt and Balloon Trousers.
